That the keys on a typewriter (for us old folks) or a keyboard (for the NOW generation) are arranged to SLOW THE TYPIST down?

I did not know that. I do know that the keyboards are called 'QUERTY' because of the arrangement of those letters. Wonder why they wanted to slow down the typist! I could hardly do the 30WPM with 5 errors. But when I got into computers with a keypad, I could fly on the numbers.

I just googled it. They designed it this way to slow down the typist to prevent jamming. There is also a Dvorak keyboard. But the QUERTY is still the standard.
